Speedway returns for another huge calendar year at the McD Contracting Esperance Speedway and it doesn't get any bigger than Opening Night of 2018/2019, featuring the Southeast Petroleum Supermod Country Round as well as strong fields of Junior Sedans, Street Stocks, Productions and Burnouts.
The Supermods return to Esperance for the first time since Braeden Aylmore took out the WA Supermod State Title in front of a packed Esperance crowd in March, earlier this year. Unfortunately the Williams based WA No.1 won't be featuring this Saturday Night, instead we have several new challengers as well as some experienced heads looking to claim an early season victory that is sure to carry some momentum through the rest of the Supermod summer.
Look out for...
W41 Mark Shepherd got his 2018/2019 campaign off to a fast start, winning the first Supermod Country Round feature in Collie last month. The cream of the crop rose to the top in a picturesque display of racing as Shepherd won 2 of his 3 earlier heats ahead of W23 Wayne Bingham. Can Shepherd translate his early form onto the smaller banks of Esperance?
W2 Grant Campbell isn't unfamiliar with the Esperance track at all, previously winning the Esperance Country Round in 2015. Campbell's good form in Esperance continues when he was also runner-up to Aylmore earlier this year in the State Title. Will the Esperance experience behind the wheel pay dividends for Campbell this time?
