Meeting Preview

The MCD Contracting Esperance Speedway returns for the first time in 2019 this Saturday Night with the running of the AMCA Flying 40 along with support divisions.

Drivers from Bunbury, Collie, Kalgoorlie and Esperance will duel for the prize of the Flying Forty Champion. The field is headlined by West Australian Champion Matt L’Hullier. The Kalgoorlie Local is in fine form and should be up front throughout the night.

Three times flying 40 champion, mad man Murray Parsons Jnr makes a return to racing this weekend and is sure to make his presence felt.

Fellow local driver Greg 'Chopper' Horan is definitely one to watch as he is running hot at the moment, Sean Mazzuchelli is another who is coming off a dominant win in Bunbury recently and is set to show his previous win was not his last.

Shaun 'Cubbo' Cubbage, Brett 'Cougar' Morrison and David 'Boyesy' Boyes are always in the mix and will be up front throughout the night.

Another in great form is Ajay Hammer from Bunbury who is stepping up in leaps and bounds since entering the division, having been racing production sedans in recent years.

The AMCA Flying 40 is supported by MLP Civil.

Look out for...

Greg 'Chopper' Horan finished in the winner's circle in Albany earlier this season and will look to extend his good form here in familiar Esperance. Horan has a habit of performing well in the Country Tri-Series as he took out last season's series with 557 points. Will Chopper be the one to hold out the current WA #1 L'Huillier on his familiar track?

There's no one who knows the Esperance track better than Murray 'Moe' Parsons Jnr. The current Flyin' 40 champ and three time winner is looking to make it a 4-peat on home soil in front of a local crowd. Can the W69 McD Contracting AMCA make it 4 Flyin' 40 titles in a row?

Also on the program are the the New Era Shearing Junior Sedans. A large field of juniors will take to the track for the first time in 2019 with the pack hot on the heels of Hayden Mortimer after winning last time out. Team Brown driver Cameron looms as the likely challenger along with brothers Kaden and Logan. The battle of the Rookies will be worth the price of admission with Hayley and Chris Dickerson improving every lap. Curtis Mayfield will be looking for some reliability this weekend.

The J & N Dickerson Fabrication Production Sedans will also be on track this Saturday night with a large field. Tim Green and Jeff Pahl from Kalgoorlie will be welcome additions to the field along with Reece Parton and His Mighty Sigma from Bunbury. Locals Josh Macalpine, Tye Tyrell and the fastest Production Sedan Charade in the country piloted by Blake Fletcher will make sure this division will be one to watch.

The Esperance Combined Tyre and Mechanical Burnout Division also return in 2019 with Zak Swann currently the man to beat Newcomers Luke O’Shannessy & Jaydon Hurst claimed a podium position last time out and will be looking to continue their good form. Shannon Anthony, Jake Cracknell and Sheehan Varney will be also be right in the mix.

The Esperance Outdoor Power Equipment Street Stocks will be looking for a trouble free weekend with most of the field fine tuning before their State title in a few weeks at Collie Speedway. Form Driver Dylan Williams is coming off a feature race win at Kalgoorlie Speedway last time out but bizarrely has opted out of contesting the State Championship. Street Stock Stalwart Zane Humphrys will return with the number 39 sure to be once again up the front. Linton Dickerson has a new engine under the bonnet this weekend and he will look to find some consistency on Saturday night. Rookie Wade Rigney has been the big improver impressing in his first few race meetings.

Racing gets underway from 6pm with gates opening at 4pm. Get ready for 40 Fiery laps! Be here, the McD Contracting Esperance Speedway this Saturday night!
